What is the Good Steward Seal?
The Good Steward Seal is our in-house certification for products sold at Grace & Grain Collective. Think of it like EWG Verified, but rooted in our own values — clean ingredients, honest sourcing, and a commitment to doing right by the families we serve.
Every product that earns the seal has been personally reviewed against our standards. We read every label, research every ingredient, and only approve what we'd feel good giving to our own families. No shortcuts, no exceptions.
What Earns the Seal
No Seed Oils
No canola, soybean, corn, or cottonseed oils. Only clean fats like olive oil, butter, coconut oil, and tallow.
No Artificial Dyes
No Red 40, Yellow 5, Blue 1, or any synthetic color additives. Color comes from real food, not a lab.
No Pesticides
No glyphosate, no synthetic pesticides. Many grains and pastas use glyphosate as a drying agent — even when labeled organic. We don't allow it.
No High-Fructose Corn Syrup
Hidden in sauces, dressings, breads, and snacks. We don't carry products with HFCS — only real sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, and cane sugar.
No Artificial Sweeteners
No aspartame, sucralose, or acesulfame-K. Common in "sugar-free" and "diet" products that still end up on health food shelves.
No Artificial Preservatives
No BHA, BHT, TBHQ, or sodium benzoate. Often lurking in shelf-stable goods that look clean at first glance.
No GMOs
No genetically modified organisms. GMO crops are often engineered to tolerate glyphosate — we avoid both.
No Parabens or Sulfates
No parabens, SLS, or SLES in soaps, shampoos, or lotions. Clean body care that's as honest as our food.
No PFAS
No "forever chemicals" in food packaging, cookware, or products. PFAS persist in the body and environment — we won't sell them.
No Carrageenan
A common additive in nut milks, yogurts, and deli meats that causes gut inflammation. Subtle enough that most people miss it.
No Artificial Fragrances
No synthetic fragrance or phthalates in body care or home products. Only essential oils and natural scents.
Minimal Processing
Whole foods as close to their natural state as possible. No ultra-processed ingredients or unnecessary additives.
Pasture-Raised & Humanely Sourced
For any animal products — eggs, dairy, meat. "Cage-free" and "free-range" labels are often misleading. We look for the real thing.
Toxin & Heavy-Metal Free
Screened for lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury. No hidden contaminants in what you consume.
Full Transparency
Every ingredient listed, every source disclosed. No hidden fillers, no proprietary blends, no fine print.
